Q1. When will my shipment be delivered? How can I keep a track of my shipment
Kerlin Xpress provides an updated information on your shipment location from one transit point to another and also update the expected date of delivery through ou Track & Trace gateway. We can provide a proactive confirmation upon delivery of shipment by email, phone or SMS, whichever is more convenient for you.
Q2. What payment methods I can use?
We recommend you to get an account/contract signed with Kerlin Xpress if you ship frequently. This gives a benefit of the best prices and a convenience to pay by monthly invoice. Less frequent shippers can pay by cash or cheque.
Q3. What is the maximum weight and size of package that I can send?
The maximum weight for any single piece shall not exceed 50 kg. However the total weight of any shipment can be even 100 kg or more. Also, a prior information about heavy shipments above 50 kg is advisable so that we can handle your shipments with utmost care and safety. Take care that none of the dimensions of any piece from the shipment should exceed 120 cm in dimension.
Q4. Can I also use services of Kerlin to import some products from overseas? Will there be any import duty on the items that I order for import?
We too provide an import facility from any where in the world along with other services that we offer. However, the duty implication depends on the type of commodity and the value of the goods. If customs imposes a charge, we will pay it at first instance, however it is to be paid by the consignee at the time of delivery of goods.
Q5. What is chargeable weight? And how to calculate it?
The Chargeable Weight is the Actual/ Gross Weight or the Volumetric/ Dimensional Weight of the shipment, whichever is the higher. Typically, large items with a light overall weight take up more space on an aircraft than a small, heavy item. That’s why the Airlines charge according to Chargeable Weight. To calculate Chargeable Weight:
For calculating the volume weight using centimeters, multiply the length by the width by the height (L x W x H) in centimeters to obtain the cubic centimeters, then divide the result by 5000.
Basic Conversions: 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters (cm) / 1 cm= 0.393701
1 lb= 0.453592 kg/ 1 kg= 2.20462 lb
Q6. What information should I put in commercial invoice?
When you’re preparing your commercial invoice please include the following information:
- Sender’s name and address
- Head the document with the word ‘Invoice’ (‘Performa Invoices’ are not acceptable)
- Name and address of the importer (Please note the receiver may be a different person or company to the importer)
- Date of invoice
- Invoice number
- Quantity of each line of goods supplied
- Full description of each line of goods supplied (catalogue numbers or part numbers will not suffice. The Customs Authorities want to know what each item actually is so please carefully describe the goods).
- The total value of goods covered by the invoice and this must at least be the intrinsic value of the shipment. Never use the terms ‘value for customs purposes only’ or ‘customs invoice’. Make sure you make it clear what currency you’re using when you give the value of the goods.
- Specify the country of origin (i.e. where the goods were manufactured) of each line of goods sent.
- Give gross and net weights of the goods covered by the invoice, together with the number of items consigned for carriage.
- Include the following statement: “We certify that this invoice shows the full value of the goods and that a further invoice will not be issued”
- Please include a commercial invoice, which has been translated into English and this will save time clearing your goods through customs.
